Every characteristic of The Real Deal tells a story of its prior life lived as a lonely truck tarp and reveals its journeys through the harsh elements of equatorial Brazil. Most likely the fabric in the Real Deal traveled from the Amazon to Sao Paulo and back again.

The Real Deal is made in Brazil of recycled canvas tarpaulins from cargo trucks used for transporting goods. Even the shapeable wire brim braved the Brazilian jungle, yet on a much more intimate scale having come from old worn truck tires. Each hat and bag is truly one of a kind as no two are the same. Each has its own unique character. Made from various colors of tarp, they may have patches, seams, holes, or even Portuguese writing.
They are hand sewn by Brazilian villagers and reflect the true craftsmanship of the locals. Please note that each hat is different and no two can ever be alike. Base on this, it is hard honor requests for specific characteristics and colors. So join us in welcoming diversity and uniqueness and we encourage you to shape your hat into one-of-a-kind.
Make it your own by adding a hat band to it, leaving it out in the sun to fade, dyeing it a new color altogether, and by bending the brim to suit your own whim (some shaping suggestions here!). We’d love to see what you end up with, so please send us a photo.
